Do you like to have fun in your free time? Of course, you do! After a long day at school, there is nothing better than playing with your friends, family, or even solo. But sometimes it can be hard to find something fun to do, or maybe you have so many fun things to choose from that you don’t know how to decide!
Don’t worry, because we can help you out. There are a lot of really fun activities for kids that don’t require a TV remote or video game. I know it may be hard to believe, but there was a time when people didn’t have TV or video games. It sounds crazy, but it’s true!
So, what are some fun activities to help you with midday boredom? Keep reading to find out!
Make a Scavenger Hunt!
A scavenger hunt is a game where one person (or many people) try to find specific objects on a list. These objects can be things like toys, clothing, pieces of candy, or really anything that you can hold in your hand. This game is great because you don’t need to buy anything — you can use items you have around the house!

So, how do you play? It’s actually pretty simple. First, you will need at least 2 people for this game (but you can have many more). One person will make a list of objects and hide those objects around the house or apartment. The other person will then look at the list and try to find all of the items as quickly as possible.
For an extra dose of fun, you can have the list-maker set a timer (for example:10 minutes). If the other person can’t find all of the items in time, the list-maker wins! This kind of game is even more fun with lots of people. This way, you have many people all looking for the same items, and the person who finds the most items is the winner!
Build Something!
This one is much simpler than a scavenger hunt. All you need is a few items and your imagination! Building something small or large lets you be really creative and show off your skills. And when you’re finished, you have something new to play with, so it’s a win-win!

You may not be sure what you can use to build something, but that part is actually pretty easy. Almost anything can be used to build — paper, playing cards, cardboard, pillows, blankets, toys, and many other household items. Do you want to make a pillow fort in your bedroom? Go for it! Or do you prefer to make a castle out of popsicle sticks? You can make whatever your mind can imagine, so the sky’s the limit!
Finish a Puzzle!
If you don’t already have a puzzle, you may need to ask your parents if you can buy one. Or, if you like to try arts and crafts, you can even make your own puzzle! Putting a puzzle together is really easy to do.

First, you need to have some paper (construction paper works really well), and a pencil. You can draw a funny picture or a picture of whatever you like! Then, use some crayons, colored pencils, or markers to add different colors to your picture. When the image is finished, cut it up into funny shapes. Make sure the pieces are not too small or large. Every piece should be about the size of a quarter.
Finally, you can mix all the pieces up and try to put the picture back together correctly. It’s even more fun with a friend!
We hope these 3 fun ideas help keep you busy on a rainy afternoon!
