Cold winter nights, hot cocoa in hand, a blanket resting over your lap as you stretch out in front of a warming fire. Finding joy in life has always been about what you’re capable of seeing. Some of us may not have those fires to sit in front of with our feet up. The hot cocoa in our hands may just be the morning cup of coffee, but we understand to be proud of, to be grateful for, and to look at each day as a blessing.
Our reality may not resemble a Lifetime special on television, but when those winter nights get too cold, we still have a blanket to throw over us and a TV show to binge-watch on television. There are many things in our lives that we take for granted, looking so lovingly at what’s fresh and new that we put on blinders to the things that can still bring us joy. The things that have been with us for so many years may look old and used up. How about giving it a second glance, you might just be surprised. Try to remember the fun that you had, and those times when you were feeling down. Remember the laughs that lasted a little longer than expected or the warmth in your heart whenever you picked it up.

We should try not to worry about what we don’t have, and instead enjoy the things that we do. When the sun sets on the day, tomorrow it will rise again. Cherish the person we are, and bad times will forget where we live. We have too much light and positivity in our hearts to let negativity dim it. Today may only be a bump in the road, but we have the strength to get over it and on to a better tomorrow.
